We were asked to film with Charlie Parr, and after hearing his upbeat traditional folk, we couldn’t resist. We caught up with Charlie before his Sacred Trinity Church show, and filmed him amongst the bell ringer ropes.

Wednesday, April 13th, 2011, 9:00 amCharlie Parr plays original and traditional folk and Piedmont-style blues, accompanying himself on National resonator guitars, 12-string guitar and sometimes a banjo. He was raised in Austin, Minnesota, in a household that prized traditional American folk music and his style bears the influence of hours spent listening to country blues records and Smithsonian/Folkways field recordings; often in the garage. He currently lives in Duluth, Minnesota.
I went to see Charlie at Salford. A great gig in an unusual setting. I’ve put some (amateur) videos of the gig up on the ‘Leeds Live Music & Art Lovers’ Facebook page.
