THE LONGCUT

A few things about The Longcut: there are three of them, they formed at university in Manchester, they’ve played shows throughout Europe, they’ve sold thousands of records, Toro Y Moi, Gallops and Earlies have remixed them and, most importantly, they’re back.

 

One of the greatest live acts around, their early shows were often house parties, and were electric enough to convince Deltasonic to put out A Call and Response. A move to Melodic Records saw them follow up one of the most memorable debuts of the decade with Open Hearts and the subsequent remix EP, Broken Hearts. A new record is expected in 2012.

VICTORIES AT SEA

It grazes upon being anthemic without being quite so garish and so blatant – where modern electro peers purposely grope for that hands in the air vibe, Victories at Sea come across that kind of thumping pleasure as a byproduct of using sweepingly atmospheric synth noises, with everything about their brutal live show coming across on record.’
