Patterns – New Noise EP

There is something special about Patterns. Formerly known as The Elmo Logic, Patterns have shed their skin as well as their name and have emerged as one of Manchester’s most exciting prospects. Their debut EP, New Noise, takes you on a blissful journey, like riding shotgun in flight of the navigator, yet safe in the knowledge that the din around you is not an annoying robot but a beautifully crafted, ethereal soundscape of pop.
The four tracks that make up New Noise take it in turns to send you away into a dream. From the glowing electric-pop of stand out track, Wrong Two Words, to the poingniant synth-durge of Fly To NY, Patterns seem to have soaked up the influence of bands like The Helio Sequence and Kyte, yet cast over it a fresh and genuine touch.
As an EP, New Noise is strong and hints at the very exciting prospect of a Patterns album, which is where this thoughtful quartet will really find their voice. But for now, this New Noise is blissful enough to tide us over.
