Air Cav are due to release their debut album, working title Don’t Look Indoors, later this year. Mastered by Lacquer Channel’s Noah Mintz (Broken Social Scene, The National, The Dears), the album includes a reworking of the band’s former single, ‘Alliance’, which Steve Lamacq championed on his Radio 1 In New Music We Trust show, deeming it one of his ‘Hottest Tracks In The World Right Now’.
Since the arrival of multi-instrumentalist, Oisin Scarlett (Daniel Land and the Modern Painters), the band can boast an occasional cello in its lineup, turning their hand to orchestral-psychedelic acoustic performances – a change from their electric dancey-indie performances.
Never the frontrunners for a new Manchester ‘scene’, Air Cav prefer their diverse influences – shoegaze, west coast psychedelia, traditional folk – to subtly inform their original compositions.
So far, it’s working.
A dedicated fanbase has supported the band at gigs across the country, as well as over the water to a packed out gig at Paris’ La Fleche D’Or and a Dutch co-headline tour with Daniel Land And The Modern Painters.
Forthcoming gigs include Eurocultured and Manchester International Festivals, alongside a headline slot at Manchester’s premier indiepop night, Underachievers.
