Sounds From The Other City Festival Special
Tuesday, May 18th, 2010, 11:54 am
Salford’s only new music festival has hosted shows by names like Marina And the Diamonds and The Tings Tings. Founded in 2005, more than 40 new, live acts have performed annually since on the May Bank Holiday weekend, across six, seldom-used venues along Chapel Street.
Last year saw a stage hosted by Radio One’s new music… lover, Huw Stephens, with festival appearances by bands spanning the sonic spectrum from Talibam to Mayming, the Lexie Mountain Boys to Whisky Cats, Hooker to Solar Fire Trio.
The twelve-hour-aural-orgy is moving west this year taking in the Kings Arms, Islington Mill, the Salvation Army’s music hall, St Philips Church, The Crescent and the Pint Pot’s two-tiered venue on the University of Salford Campus. Its bigger than before, with better sound systems and music keeps getting better.
Acts set to appear are Chrome Hoof, Kelpe, Damon & Naomi, Jesca Hoop (solo), Jo Rose, Liz Green, Frazer King, Dutch Uncles, Wu Lyf and many many more.
