Words can’t describe this. When we first approached the Shmoo boys about doing a session for us, their initial reaction was that it wasn’t possible (Shmoo being a fully electronic Moog powerhouse), However, that all changed when they went and had their van converted into a fully functional mobile disco, complete with party lights and smoke machine.
The Newport brothers (David and Neil) have been busy working on various projects over the last few years exploring the realms of electronic music. During this time they built a studio in the attic of their flat in Manchester, surrounded themselves with old school synthesizers, samplers, drum kits and drum machines, and focused their efforts on writing and recording lots of music. Neil decided to take the helm on lead vocals accompanied by Dave on vocoder, both playing vintage analog moogs live, accompanied by a live drummer playing on a hybrid electronic/acousitc drum kit. Live the three piece are all wired together via an old sampler full of hard hitting beats and sampled synthesizers, everything you can want in a live electronic synthed-up indie/dance band!
