We Are Willow

‘We Are Willow’ is a collection of self released collaborations by artist/musician Chris Butler, formerly one half of Manchester duo ‘Butler – Williams’. At the beginning of 2010 he set himself the task of recording and releasing 3 EP’s with 3 different friends/fellow musicians he admired…and to tour them in the UK and abroad. The aim being to create an eclectic body of songs which would take all involved a step away from their current sound.

‘Part One’ with singer – songwriter Kathryn Edwards was released in June 2010 and was picked as Piccadilly Records ‘Folk Record of the Week’. The EP made its live debut on ‘Record Store Day’ in Montreal during a small tour of Canada. After a succession of UK dates the duo recently travelled down the West Coast of America playing a series of ‘part one’ gigs along the way.

‘Part Two’ saw Butler collaborate with Simon Connor of Manchester 3 piece ‘Yields’ and another ‘Record of the Week’ welcoming the EP. The pair played a week of pre release gigs in Barcelona, including after hours shows in art galleries and clothing boutiques, receiving some positive words from ‘Go Magazine, Barcelona’ along the way.

‘Part 3′ with Sam Lench of ‘Samson & Delilhah’ is out now. Trips abroad are in the pipeline, with UK dates to be announced. Along with the music Butler has collaborated with fellow visual artists on all releases and a series of videos for choice tracks. Watch this space, more collaborations to come…
