Dog Is Dead is a five piece indie pop band from Nottingham, who have variously described their music as “Louis Armstrong lost in disco”, “an original blend of harmonious, indie-pop in the disco, with a cheeky jazz hint” and “uplifting pop for jazz junkies and choir folk”.
Three members of the band (Joss Harrison-Wilder, Robert Milton and Lawrence Cole) met at West Bridgford School. After picking up drummer Lawrence Libor at a party and Rob White at a play rehearsal they started performing live in 2007, at venues including the Bodega Social Club. Their debut EP was released in April 2009.
The band has supported One Night Only, Cajun Dance Party and Ok Go. They played at the Dot to Dot Festival in 2009 and 2010, the Glastonbury Festival 2010,and OX4 2010.
Their debut single, “Glockenspiel Song”, was released to a host of positive reviews on 7 June 2010. Their songs have been played on UK national radio stations, including BBC Radio 1 and BBC Radio 6.Dog is Dead work at Nottingham’s Random Recording Studios.
The band are often cited as favouring Nottingham venue The Rescue Rooms. Rob Milton once claimed it was “the only place that really gets us as a band, you know?”
