For the new year Kosmonaut is proud to present a new series of FREE monthly gigs down in our basement, showcasing the newest talent found everywhere from the streets of Manchester to the depths of our inbox. For the first edition, we’re delighted to introduce Stuttgart art-pop voyager LEVIN GOES LIGHTLY to the city.
Levin Goes Lightly’s shimmering, minimalist songs carry a dense, almost visible atmosphere. A 24 year-old student, Levin lives and works out of a decommissioned railroad wagon in Stuttgart’s Nordbahnhof, now an artists’ village rising from the rust and industry of its locomotive past. Debut record ‘Dizzy Heights’ has a glorious lucidity to it, inspired by feeling at one right in the centre and also on the periphery of his home city.

Supporting Levin tonight is LEDA & THE SWAN, the precocious project of 18 year-old Alex McKenzie. Emerging last year, L&TS was a shapeshifting, darkly alluring presence live, dipping into an atmospheric expanse transcendental to its sole creator, causing the blog Tru Luv to compare the dystopian minimalism of ‘Lead Sky’ to David Thomas Broughton.
