*Their first European shows since opening for The Vaselines in 2011, we are delighted to welcome SCHWERVON! back to Manchester. Making this into a killer triple bill are BASE VENTURA and RUNAROUND KIDS*
All at our favourite intimate gig space, the back room of The Castle.

Schwervon! are a two piece rock band. Nan plays drums and Matt plays guitar and they both sing. They lived in NYC for 15+ years and have recently relocated to Kansas City with their cat Gummo.
Together, Schwervon! have produced 4 full length albums, 2 seven inch vinyl only singles, in addition to touring the world and performing with The Vaselines, Belle and Sebastian, Kimya Dawson, The Thermals, Jeffrey Lewis, The Essex Green, Comet Gain, Herman Dune, Veronica Falls, The Trachtenburg Family Slideshow Players and other luminaries.
“Schwervon! is that band you fall in love with without realizing you have. A noise-rock duo with the thrash of Sonic Youth, coupled with the down-to-earth tales of love in the real world like Yo La Tengo.” – Deli Magazine, NYC
“Like the White Stripes if they’d been raised on the records of 80s indie heroes The Wedding Present rather than Blind Willie McTell .” – James Jam, NME
“Pretty Slow” sounds like a bonus, unreleased track from Blue Album-era Weezer, if Rivers Cuomo had teamed up with The Blow’s Khaela Maricich.”
-Rachel Kowal, NPR Second Stage
Schwervon! are perennially under-rated DIY underdogs that last played for us in 2009 at Saki in a memorable two piece match-off against The Lovely Eggs. We can’t wait to have them back.
BASE VENTURA

The best videos around. Possibly the best puns around. Definitely one of the best new live bands around.
‘If you had to be a super-villain who inevitably gets killed at the end of some terrible action movie, you’d at least hope that Base Ventura are the band that they’d play as your kind-of theme music – dubbed over montages of you beating up the innocent, laying waste to villages, all with a smile on your face. Everytime anyone has seen one of their (very few) shows in Manchester, they’ve been blown away.’ – Sounds From The Other City.
RUNAROUND KIDS

Runaround Kids are a 3-piece from Wakefield, and they play noisy pop songs.
In August 2011 they released their debut album ‘Linked Arms’ to critical acclaim. Drowned In Sound praised it as “A noisy, assertive piece of work… energetic bursts all sharing infiltrating melodies and a fuzzy lo-fi aesthetic. (An) excellent debut album”, whilst Vibrations have declared them “One of The UK’s most promising acts”. The album has led to them being playlisted on Amazing Radio as well as numerous plays on BBC 6Music, Radio 1 (including being named Huw Stephens’ ‘Tip Of The Week’) and XFM.
This is their 3rd Underachievers show, and we love them.
